A really fast shutter speed of 1/5000th of a second was needed here to keep the picture from being blurry while the players and ball where in motion. Notice that even on a bright sunny day, a shutter speed this fast still required a high ISO of 1000 to make the photo bright enough. Using as wide an aperture as possible also allows more light in, which in turn allow for a faster shutter speed.
Using a Telephoto Zoom Lenses for action photography lets you “get into the game” by zooming in. This picture was taken from the sidelines, but I was able to make it feels like you are on the field with the players by zooming in.
